California Department of Health Services - Office of AIDS

As designated by the California Health and Safety Code Section 100119, the Office of AIDS has lead responsibility for coordinating state programs, services and activities relating to HIV/AIDS. Visit the website to get information about HIV/AIDS care, epidemiology, education and prevention services, and links to helpful resources. www.dhs.ca.gov/aids/

California’s HIV/STD Referral Database

The statewide referral database provides confidential links to more than 1,200 organizations that provide HIV/AIDS services in California that include local and mobile HIV testing facilities, HIV service centers, and legal services/advocacy.

Information on testing resources and answers to questions related to HIV/AIDS testing can be found by visiting www.hivtest.org

State and National HIV/AIDS Hotlines

California HIV/AIDS Hotline
Trained volunteers handle telephone calls from the public on a spectrum of issues, including HIV testing, transmission, trends and new AIDS treatments. The hotline is available Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (until 9:00 PM Tuesdays). To reach the hotline call (800) 367-AIDS in the state of California and (415) 863-AIDS, if calling from San Francisco or outside of California. CDC National AIDS Hotline (NAH)
Nationwide test site referrals, counseling, literature (upon request), clinical trials information referrals, and a wide scope of other HIV/AIDS related resource information. The hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To reach the hotline call (800) 342-AIDS (2437) or visit www.ashastd.org/nah/ for more information.

California AIDS Clearinghouse (CAC)
CAC handout materials are made available at no-cost (free) to agencies that receive funding through the California Department of Health Services, Office of AIDS. A cost recovery price will be charged for all other requesters. For more information please call (888) 611-4222 or visit www.hivinfo.org.

CDC National Prevention Information Network (NPIN)
NPIN offers hundreds of brochures, fact sheets, and posters about HIV/AIDS at no cost. However, quantities are limited. For more information and to order materials call (800) 458-5231 or visit their website at www.cdcnpin.org/scripts/index.asp


National Association of People With AIDS (NAPWA)

The mission of African American Health Solutions is to improve the health care outcomes of African Americans by providing culturally sensitive health education, health improvement opportunities and access to quality health care services.
